Originating from South Africa, this charming, iris-like flower forms clumps of dark green, stiff, sword-shaped leaves. It blooms abundantly from late spring to the end of summer. This hardy to half-hardy evergreen perennial displays white flowers with yellow nectar guides and purple centres. Reaching a height of 1-1.5m, these plants create an attractive display when grown together in groups, especially along paths or beside driveways.

Sowing & Growing
To aid germination, consider soaking the seeds in warm water for two days or lightly sanding them with sandpaper before sowing. Choose either spring or autumn (preferring cooler temperatures) and use moist seed compost. Lightly cover the seeds with compost and maintain a temperature of 15-20°C. Germination typically occurs in 1-3 months, occasionally taking longer. Once the seedlings are sufficiently large, pot them on.
Flowering begins in the second or third season. In colder regions (experiencing frosts below -7°C), bring the plants indoors during winter. As this is an evergreen plant, avoid cutting back the leaves, unlike some irises. Mature plants can be divided after the flowering period.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
