Sowing & Growing
For effective seed germination, a pre-treatment involves soaking them in warm water for approximately 24-48 hours. Sowing can take place all year round, with a recommended depth of about 1 cm in a mixture of coir or sowing mix with sand or perlite. The optimal germination temperature is around 25-27°C. Place the seeds in a bright location, maintaining consistent moisture without overwatering, and expect germination within approximately 3-6 weeks.
During the growing season, regular watering is advised, allowing the soil to dry between watering. Biweekly fertilization with a 0.2% solution or long-term fertilizer is recommended. Be vigilant against pests, particularly spider mites, especially in greenhouse conditions. The substrate for planting should be a mix of cactus or potting soil with 2/3 sand or perlite. Grow on in a bright environment at temperatures around 15-20°C, ensuring the soil remains consistently slightly moist. For overwintering mature specimens, keep them in a bright location at around 10°C, watering sparingly to prevent the root ball from completely drying out. Note that the plant is drought-tolerant, emphasizing its adaptability to varying moisture conditions.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
