Green Manure Seeds

Revitalise your soil with green manure seeds. These seed blends promote nutrients, prevent soil erosion and stifle weed growth – creating an optimal environment for your flowers, fruit, and vegetables to thrive naturally.

Dig in your green manure before planting new crops and witness the difference. For an extra helping hand in the garden, browse our fertilisers and weed or moss killers.

Enrich your soil with green manure seeds.

Inexpensive and easy to establish, green manures, sometimes known as cover crops, are helpful, fast-growing plants that soak in nutrients such as Nitrogen and release them back into the soil in the future. These plants also suppress weeds, making them an eco-friendly alternative to weed killers

Selecting the best variety of green manure depends on several factors, such as the following:

  • The time of year
  • How long you will need the ground to be covered
  • What was in the ground before and what you will plant after
  • The type of soil

For instance, blends like Rye and Vetch are resilient throughout winter, while species like White Clover thrive when sown during spring and summer.

Correctly sow your green manure seeds.

Sow green manure on bare ground, ideally, in three to four weeks before planting new crops and at least a month before sowing seed. This timeframe lets the manure decompose efficiently, returning its nutrients to the soil for future use. If you let green manure flower, you’ll introduce another valuable source of pollen and nectar for pollinators in addition to your other flowers.
