Red, White & Crimson Clover Mix

Starting at £0.79

Red, White & Crimson Clover offers a versatile combination of clover varieties. White clover, a robust perennial widely cultivated in the United States, can thrive for several years, with Ladino varieties being highly productive but less effective at reseeding. Intermediate white clover types are better at reseeding and exhibit greater persistence, although they tend to be less productive. Well-suited for close grazing in many pastures.

Red clover, distinguished by excellent seedling vigour and larger seeds than white clover, is conducive to drilling into existing grass pastures. Best-yielding among clover species in well-adapted areas.

Crimson clover, a reliable and productive annual, features larger seeds and superior seedling vigour compared to most clovers. Flourishing during cool weather, it matures early among commonly grown clover species. With its striking crimson-coloured blooms, it adds a spectacular display in early to mid-spring.

Useful Information

Sowing & Growing

Sow seeds between March and August, with a growing period ranging from 6 months to 2-5 years. White clover, particularly suitable for silt loam and clay soils, can also tolerate poor drainage conditions. To sow, begin by clearing the area of weeds, especially perennial ones. Rake the soil to create a fine tilth, and broadcast the seeds at a rate of 1.5g per square meter. Rake the seeds into the soil to a depth of 0.5cm, firm the soil, and lightly water. Maintain moist conditions to facilitate germination.
