A stunning carpet of bright succulent leaves is studded with a profusion of doubled flowers in all colours from orange, pink, purple, yellow and red to white. The succulent leaves are another clue to the wonderful drought-tolerance of this low-growing flower that absolutely thrives in hot, dry areas in poor, sandy or gravelly soil that drains quickly, the small, fleshy leaves storing water, allowing the plant to survive during dry periods. Although it is grown as an annual in most climates, the plant is truly perennial in warmer climates

Sowing & Growing
Seeds are dust-like handle with caution. Surface sow indoors in spring onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Do not cover seed, simply press into the soil. Place in a propagator or seal in a plastic bag. Ideal temp. 18-21°C. Germination takes 7-14 days. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to 8cm pots and grow on. Acclimatise and plant out after danger of frost has passed. Can be sown directly in May-Jun. onto prepared soil which has been raked to a fine tilth.
Prefers a sandy, well-drained soil in full sun. Will tolerate any well-drained soil. Feed and water until well established. Drought tolerant once established.
Will self-seed freely, deadhead if you do not want volunteer seedlings next season.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
