Useful Information

It is imperative to have a sunny place shielded from strong winds.
The more humus present in the soil, the better, and it should have good drainage.
Plant one seed edgeways 1/2 inch deep in seed compost in a 3-inch container for an early start (late March).
Temperature is crucial; for them to sprout, the soil must remain at least 65 degrees Fahrenheit (ideally higher to optimise germination rates).
Water the soil liberally around the plants, not on top of them, to keep it moist.
Keep weeds out of the way to promote airflow.
Fertilise the plants every 14 days after they begin to bear fruit, as they are voracious eaters.
