A clump-forming perennial produces tall spikes of tubular flowers over tufts of narrow strap-like foliage in late summer and early autumn. This potluck mixture includes red, orange, salmon, and yellow varieties, making it a classic choice for cottage gardens. It stands as a striking focal point in any border, with a hardy perennial nature, flowering from late summer to early autumn, and reaching a height of 90cm with a spread of 60cm.

Sowing & Growing
Sow these seeds at any time of the year, placing them at a depth of approximately 3mm in pots or trays filled with moist seed compost. Then, either use a propagator or seal them in a polythene bag while maintaining a temperature of 20-25°C. Encouraging germination, which typically takes 10-30 days, involves reducing the soil temperature at night. As the seedlings emerge, enhance ventilation by gradually opening the bag or propagator vents.
Alternatively, you can sow these seeds outdoors during the summer in a sheltered location away from direct sunlight.
Once the seedlings are large enough to handle, pot them on into 7-9cm pots and continue growing them in cooler conditions. If necessary, overwinter them in frost-free conditions such as a greenhouse or insulated cold frame. In spring, gradually acclimatize them to outdoor conditions before planting them out in a sunny position once all risk of frost has passed.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
