Sowing & Growing
For optimal results, sow seeds indoors from March to May by planting them 1.5cm (½”) deep on their edges in small pots filled with compost. Ensure thorough watering and place the pots in a warm location with an ideal temperature of 15-20°C (60-68°F). Keep the soil consistently moist, and expect seedlings to emerge within 7-14 days. Gradually acclimate the plants to outdoor conditions, avoiding frosts, before transplanting them outdoors in May to June. Space them 90cm (3′) apart in well-drained, fertile soil once the risk of frost has passed.
Alternatively, sow seeds directly outdoors in May, planting them 1.5cm (½”) deep in finely-prepared, watered soil with a spacing of 90cm (3′) between positions. Sow two seeds on edge per position, and early sowings can benefit from cloche protection. Thin to leave the stronger plant, water well until established, and anticipate harvesting in September to October.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
