Medusa peppers are a type of sweet, ornamental chilli pepper which grows upright, brightly coloured fruit, which is long and thin, producing a “hair of snakes” look akin to that attributed to Medusa in Greek mythology. The fruit is sweet, unusual for ornamental pepper, and goes from green through yellow and orange, to become red when fully ripe.

Sowing & Growing
Indoors January-April in small pots 7.5cm/3″ diameter filled with compost. You’re looking at around an 18 week period between sowing and harvesting. Sow 2 seeds per pot – 6mm/1/4-inch deep. Germination takes up to 21 days. Best practise is harden off plants which have been raised indoors and finally move outdoors once all danger of frost has passed. As the plants get bigger, pot up into larger pots in stages ending with one plant per 20cm/8″ container and place in a hot sheltered sunny position.
Growing on – in open ground, as above but plant in beds or borders 45cm/ 18″ apart. You must water regularly, but do not keep the compost soaked. Limit to 6-10 fruits per plant. Feed with tomato food once the fruit start to swell each time you water.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
