Sowing & Growing
Prepare soil in final planting location, incorporate plenty of well rotted organic matter and dig over, ideally done a couple months before sowing. Soil must not be acidic. Sow in seed bed or indoors 12mm deep, 15cm apart into moist well-drained soil. Germination takes 4-7 days. Once germinated grow on in cooler conditions. In July, once large enough to handle, move to final position with 60cm spacing. Plant 2cm deeper than they were in the nursery bed to help the plant withstand winter weather.
Cover young crop with fleece or netting to prevent bird or insect attack. Water thoroughly after planting. Feed if desired with a high nitrogen fertiliser. Weed as required.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
