Dandelion are a family of flowering plants that grow in many parts of the world and are perennial. They’re also known as Taraxacum spp., though Taraxacum officinale is the most common species. The nutritional content of dandelion extends to all parts of the plant. It’s a rich source of many vitamins, minerals and fiber. Dandelion are a rich source of beta-carotene and polyphenolic compounds, both of which are known to have strong antioxidant capabilities that can prevent aging and certain diseases.
Sowing & Growing
Requires a prepared soil with plenty of compost. Rake a general fertilizer in a few days before sowing. Sow directly Mar-May or sow indoors 6-8 weeks prior to last frost. Sow seed thinly 10mm deep in rows 25cm apart. Ideal temp. 15-23°C. Germination takes 7-21 days approx. Thin seedlings to 30cm spacing. Water until established. Harvest leaves as required.
Prefers a finely prepared, well-drained, fertile soil in full sun. Keep soil moist. Harvest by cutting individual leaves approx. 95 days from sowing. Best harvested in cool weather, hot weather harvest can cause bitterness.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year.
