The “National 2” sparkler radish (Raphanus sativum var. sativum) is an early-maturing variety suitable for field cultivation, known for its large, round, red roots that feature white tips. The flesh of this radish is white, tender, and crunchy, with a pleasant taste that remains non-pithy.
As a low-calorie vegetable, radishes are primarily enjoyed raw in salads or as a complement to dishes like curd. They are a good source of calcium, phosphorus, and iron, along with vitamins C, B1, and B2. Incorporating radishes into your diet can have beneficial effects on digestive health.
To achieve optimal yields, it is best to plant radishes in sunny locations with fertile, humus-rich, and moist soil that has a neutral pH. This variety is resilient to temperature fluctuations, with seedlings able to tolerate drops as low as -4°C. “National 2” radish seeds should be sown directly into the soil from March through August. Notably, this variety does not produce flowering stalks, allowing for continuous growth throughout the season. For a steady supply, it is advisable to sow seeds every two weeks. The “National 2” radish has a short growing period of approximately 28 to 30 days, making it possible to harvest from April to October.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
