Wholesale Borage Seeds Bulk

Starting at £4.50

Borage, an annual herb, features charming vivid blue star-shaped flowers and textured grey-green leaves. Growing effortlessly, it typically reaches a height of 30-50cm. The leaves, with a refreshing cucumber-like taste, make a delightful addition to salads, while the attractive flowers can be frozen into ice cubes for a touch of luxury in beverages like Pimms or used as a decorative salad garnish. Borage tends to self-seed readily, offering an advantage, but deadheading before seed formation prevents a profusion of new plants. Loved by bees for its nectar-rich blooms, Borage serves as an excellent companion plant, attracting beneficial insects to benefit neighbouring crops—particularly suitable beside tomatoes to enhance fertilization. Sow seeds indoors from February to April or directly outdoors from the end of April to May.

Useful Information

Sowing & Growing

Sow indoors under glass starting in March, planting seeds 10mm deep in moist, well-drained seed compost. Alternatively, opt for direct sowing by placing seeds into prepared soil, 10mm deep, with a 5cm spacing in rows set 30cm apart. After 3-4 weeks, thin out the seedlings, maintaining a spacing of 15cm.

Simple and straightforward to cultivate, no specific needs. Harvest the flowers for immediate use in salads or beverages.
