Useful Information

Sowing & Growing

Sow seeds thinly in seed trays with a mixture of seed and potting compost. Do this between February to April. Alternatively, place 2-3 seeds in small pots, lightly covering them with compost. Gently firm the compost and water carefully. Maintain a temperature of approximately 15-20°C in a heated greenhouse or propagator. Once the seedlings reach 10cm in height, transplant them into larger individual pots. “Harden off” the plants for 3-4 days before planting them outdoors after the risk of frost has passed. Space the plants 45cm apart. Planting them slightly deep, 0.5cm below the seed leaves, helps establish sturdy plants. This variety can also be cultivated in a greenhouse using large pots, greenhouse soil, or grow bags.

Protect the plants with fleece or a cloche if frost is anticipated. Ensure daily watering and provide a weekly feed with a high-potassium tomato fertilizer once fruit development begins. Crimson Crush F1, a cordon tomato, needs staking and support due to its prolific and extended tomato production. Regularly pinch out side shoots for optimal growth.

Harvest the tomatoes from July to October.
