Sowing & Growing
An early purple sprouting variety that yields sizable spears starting in late January. Sow seeds thinly in a well-prepared seedbed in shallow drills, 1.5cm deep in short rows. Alternatively, sow seeds thinly in seed trays or two seeds per cell in modules under glass at 13°C. For outdoor sowings, thin out to 7-10cm apart. Once the plants are large enough, lift and transplant them to their final positions, spacing them 60cm apart with rows 90cm apart for maturity.
When glasshouse seedlings show their first pair of leaves, prick them off into trays 5cm apart or thin modules to one seedling per cell. Gradually harden off before planting out when they reach about 15cm in height, maintaining the same spacings as detailed above. Late February to April of the following year, pick out the central spear first to encourage the development of numerous side shoots. A valuable source of vitamins A, C, and iron.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
