Quinoa, a species of goosefoot (Chenopodium), is a grain-like crop grown primarily for its edible seeds. It is a pseudocereal rather than a true cereal, or grain, as it is not a grass. As a chenopod, quinoa is closely related to species such as beets, spinach and tumbleweeds.

Sowing & Growing
Can be sown under glass at any time for baby leaf. Can be sown directly in spring after the last frost, April is ideal. Sow into prepared soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Sow in rows 25cm apart or broadcast sow. Germination is rapid taking from 3 days. Plants will grow quickly. Keep well watered. Harvest young for use as baby leaf.
Prefers and moist soil in full or partial sun. 150cm is mature height. Leaves are edible, but the tiny flower heads are why most people grow this plant. Just harvest the top 10cm of each flower stem (both leaves and flowers) and boil or steam. Harvest is possible within 7-8 weeks of sowing.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
