Sowing & Growing
Scarification is recommended for Lupine seeds by nicking or scratching the hard seed coatings to enhance water absorption. After scarification, soak the seeds in water overnight before planting. This accelerates germination, ensuring a quicker start to your garden growth.
Plant at any time of the year except early to mid-summer. Sow the seeds 3mm deep in a moist, well-drained seed compost within pots or trays. Enclose in a polythene bag or use a propagator, maintaining an optimal temperature of 18-21C. Expect germination within 15-60 days. As seedlings appear, gradually enhance ventilation by opening bag or propagator vents.
Once seedlings are sizable enough to handle, transplant them into 9cm pots. Cultivate them in cooler conditions (around 15C) with ample light, shaded from direct sun. If needed, overwinter at approximately 5C. Once established, gradually acclimate to outdoor conditions and grow them until mature enough for planting in a sunny or semi-shaded spot in the garden.
Caution: Harmful if ingested. Note: If seeds exhibit a red or blue-green colour, they are film-coated for disease protection. Wash hands after handling.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
