This variety of lettuce is actually a cross somewhere between a butterhead and a crisp head. It has soft outer leaves but with a creamy green heart of a much crispier texture. Buttercrunch will produce heads which are medium to large in size. Sow all year as with any other lettuce

Sowing & Growing
Direct sow thinly into prepared soil, raked to a fine tilth, 10mm deep in drills 30cm apart. Ideal temp. 13°C. Germination takes 7-14 days. When seedlings are 2cm tall thin to 30cm. Can also sow under glass. Successional sow at 14 day intervals.
Keep soil moist and cool. Watering is essential. Dry soil will cause the plants to produce flowers. Perfect temp. for growth 16-18°C.
