Sowing & Growing
Direct sow March-August, thinly into soil that has been prepared to a fine tilth sow 10mm deep in drills 30cm apart. Ideal temp. 13°C. Germination takes 7-14 days. When seedlings are 2cm tall thin to 30cm.
Can sow under glass in autumn for overwintering or early spring. Successional sow at 14 day intervals.
Keep soil damp and cool. Keep well watered. Dry soil will cause the plants to produce flowers. Perfect temp. for growth 16-18°C. Cultivation Instructions The root system is shallow and compact so benefits from a compost side dressing. Aphids can be a problem, companion plant with Nasturtiums to help prevent this.
