The quintessential playing surface; close mown, vibrant green spaces are as visually iconic as the sports played on them. Our Bowling Mix Grass Seed is an excellent choice to create your new green, literally helping to level the playing field!
Perfect mix for a quick fix on bare patches, this is the traditional 80/20 greens mixture that is designed to give a fine dense sward.
This mix is extremely tolerant of close mowing, preventing scalping and leaving a good playing surface.

Sowing & Growing
Sow at a rate of 35g per m2
Split each square metre’s worth of seed in half and scatter seed in one direction across a square and then spread the rest in the opposite direction. Mix seed with a little sand to deter birds.
After sowing, lightly rake over the area and water.
Seedlings are susceptible to drought, so keep them watered during dry spells. Test your soil regularly by pushing your fingers into it.
Growing a playing green is labour intensive: fertilise and water the grass. Water daily until the seeds sprout, then fertilise and water regularly. Once the grass has sprouted immediately start mowing. You should mow a playing green 3-4 times a week.
I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
