Sowing & Growing
Sow in a cold frame in the Spring, surface sow onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Just lightly cover the seed with a sprinkling of soil. The ideal temperature is 10°C which will give you a germination time of approximately 2-6 weeks. Only transplant seedlings when large enough to handle and grow on under glass for the 1st winter.
Acclimatise and plant out the following Spring, strictly after danger of frost has passed.
Golden Rod prefers a poor to moderately fertile, well-drained sandy soil in full sun. Be warned, it will self-seed freely. Deadhead if you do not want volunteer seedlings next season. Propagate by seed or via division in spring.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
