These can be aptly characterized as miniature cabbages. The exceptionally robust plant closely resembles that of Brussels sprouts, developing open rosettes along the stem leading to a frilly-leaved top. These rosettes, referred to as ‘Flower Sprouts,’ consist of petite, cabbage-like leaves adorned with hints of purple and fringed with green edges. The flavour is notably gentler and sweeter compared to a traditional sprout, featuring a distinct nutty sweetness akin to spring greens. Enjoy them steamed, stir-fried, roasted, or boiled. The plant reaches a height of 3ft (90cm).

Sowing & Growing
Start early by sowing indoors, planting seeds 5mm deep in a thinly spread manner over moist and compact seed compost. Maintain a propagation temperature of 15-20°C and keep the soil consistently moist. When transferring to the outdoors, plant in May-Jun with a spacing of 60cm between plants and rows 60cm apart. Alternatively, direct sowing can be done outdoors in Mar-Apr, placing seeds 10mm deep into a seed bed or well-watered compost. Ensure the soil stays moist and provide protection from frost.
This crop is easy to cultivate; maintain soil moisture throughout the growing period. If necessary, safeguard against the Cabbage White Butterfly using netting. Harvest the loose, button-type heads as needed.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
