Sowing & Growing
To successfully grow these plants, start by sowing them indoors between February to April. Surface sow the seeds onto a moist, well-drained seed compost, lightly covering them with soil. Maintain a propagation temperature between 18-20°C, and be patient, as germination typically takes 21-30 days, sometimes longer due to irregularities. If germination is slow or doesn’t occur, consider cold stratification by moving the seeds to a cooler 4°C environment for 2-4 weeks, and then return them to warmth for germination. Once the seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into 8cm pots. Acclimatize them to their new environment, and when the risk of frost has passed, plant them outdoors with a spacing of 90cm.
When it comes to growing these plants, they thrive in ordinary well-drained soil with full sun exposure. Be cautious not to use overly rich soil, as it can cause the plants to become floppy, potentially requiring staking for support. Keep in mind that these plants will naturally die at the end of the flowering season, so when that time comes, simply pull them and add them to your compost.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
