The “Hi-No-Maru” Chinese Aster (Callistephus chinensis Hi-No-Maru) is an extremely decorative, medium tall variety that blooms from August till September. An Annual, it reaches 50 cm in height and produces subtle, tender, branched stems topped with exuberant inflorescences that resemble the beautiful pomponette daisy. What is even more important, the flower heads of the “Hi-No-Maru” asters are bi-colour: the centre consisting of long, reddish-pink tubular flowers is surrounded by a collar of white, tongue-shaped ray flowers

Sowing & Growing
Chinese aster seeds should be sown indoors at the end of March and at the beginning of April. The seedlings with a few pairs of well developed leaves are transplanted on to the field in the second half of May. In warmer regions direct sow starting from mid-April is also possible.
This annual plant loves full sun and permeable, non drying and humous soil. It is recommended for border cultivation in company of the similar “Blue Moon” asters with purple-white blooms or the “Gusford Supreme” variety with white and pink flowers. It also looks great with stonecrops, rudbeckias and perennial Nova-Angliae asters.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
