Sowing & Growing
Cauliflower Di Sicilia Violletto is a beautiful and delicious variety of cauliflower that can be easily grown in the UK. Here are the steps to sow and grow Cauliflower Di Sicilia Violletto in the UK.
The best time to sow Cauliflower Di Sicilia Violletto in the UK is in mid-spring, around April to May. Start by preparing a seedbed in a sunny, sheltered spot with well-drained soil. Make sure to remove any weeds and rocks from the soil, and add some compost or well-rotted manure to improve the soil’s fertility.
Sow the seeds thinly in rows that are around 30cm apart, and cover them with a fine layer of soil. Water the seeds gently, and keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. As the seedlings start to grow, thin them out to around 5-10cm apart, and water them regularly.
The ideal temperature for growing Cauliflower Di Sicilia Violletto is between 10-25°C, so make sure to keep the plants warm and protected from any late frosts. Once the seedlings have grown to around 10-15cm tall, transplant them into their final positions in the garden. Space them around 45cm apart, and make sure to plant them deep enough so that the roots are covered but the stem and leaves are above the soil surface.
Cauliflower Di Sicilia Violletto is ready to harvest around 70-90 days after sowing, depending on the weather conditions. Look for heads that are firm, compact, and a rich shade of violet. To harvest, use a sharp knife to cut the heads off the stem, leaving a few leaves intact to protect the remaining plant.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
