Sowing & Growing
Start indoor sowings from January to March and opt for outdoor sowing between April and October. Surface sow the seeds onto moist, well-drained seed compost, lightly covering them with soil. Maintain an ideal temperature range of 21-24°C for germination, which usually takes approximately 7-14 days. Once the seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into 8cm pots and continue growing them in cooler conditions. Acclimate the seedlings for 10-15 days before planting them outdoors with a spacing of 15cm.
Alternatively, you can directly sow the seeds in mid-summer to early autumn. Surface sow and keep the area moist until the plants are established. Safeguard the seedlings with a straw mulch until the risk of frost has passed.
