This re-selected heirloom variety yields abundant long stems adorned with large, frilled flowers, each displaying a breathtaking array of shades. Standing at a height of 1.8m, these flowers emanate a delightful scent.
While spring is commonly associated with sowing sweet peas, Lathyrus odoratus, it’s worth noting that traditionally, they were sown in autumn for a spectacular early summer bloom the following year. Expect the vibrant display of flowers to grace your garden from late May onward.

Sowing & Growing
For an early bloom, consider sowing in a greenhouse or indoors at around 13-15°C. Place three seeds per 10cm (4″) pot, burying them 13mm (1/2″) deep. Germination typically occurs within 10-20 days. Once germinated, acclimatize the plants to outdoor conditions and transplant them in May.
Alternatively, you can sow the seeds directly into finely raked, moist, warm, and weed-free soil where you want the flowers to flourish, burying them 13mm (1/2″) deep. To encourage more flowers, trim the growing tips after 3-4 pairs of leaves have developed. Another option is to sow the seeds in September-October in a cold frame or unheated greenhouse for over-wintering.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
