Premium Poultry Grass Seed With Clover and Herbs

Starting at £12.99

All commercial free range birds must have access to outside forage during daylight hours. EC legislation requires that all poultry must have continuous daytime access to open runs which are ‘mainly covered with vegetation’ and with a maximum stocking density of 2,500 birds per hectare (1 bird per 4 square metres). The sward will provide good ground cover and a very stable, robust pasture providing the area is rested for 8 weeks during the growing season to allow for plant regeneration.

Not only do its nitrogen fixing qualities greatly reduce the need for fertiliser, the Clover contributes towards voluntary protein intake to any foraging bird. The sward will provide good ground cover and a very stable, robust pasture providing the area is rested for 8 weeks during the growing season to allow for plant regeneration.

Useful Information

Sowing & Growing

For growing a new field from soil, sow instead at a rate of 50g per m2

For overseeding an existing area, sow at a rate of 15g per m2

Sow March to October to avoid the colder winter months.

Split each square metre’s worth of seed in half and scatter seed in one direction across a square and then spread the rest in the opposite direction.

After sowing, lightly rake over the area and water.

Seedlings are susceptible to drought, so keep them watered during dry spells. Test your soil regularly by pushing your fingers into it.

Once the seeds are established you can graze poultry on the area. While the area is being used for forage mowing is not necessary.
