Sowing & Growing
Sow indoors in late winter-late spring. It is best to sow early in the year. Surface sow, finely, on to moist, well-drained seed compost. Mixing seed with silver sand may help you to do this. Do not cover the seed as it needs light to germinate. Ideal temperature is 15-20°C. Germination takes 10-14 days. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle to trays with 5cm spacing. Acclimatise and plant out in clumps rather than individual plants from May with 15cm spacing.
Prefers a moist but well-drained soil in partial shade. A cool spot is ideal. Dislikes hot, dry weather. Keep moist at all times.
Can be cut back by half in height in mid-summer to rejuvenate and to increase bushiness. Once flowering ceases in late autumn pull and compost the plant.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
