Growing; Seed dormancy is broken by a period of chilling and therefore sowing must occur in late summer or autumn. Cow parsley can be introduced into most meadow mixtures but we would urge caution as it can dominate and once established it is difficult to remove.

Useful Information

Field Penny-cress is a medium-sized annual plant that lacks hair and has a somewhat sturdy appearance. Its leaves are shiny and toothed, clasping the stem with arrow-shaped points. The flowers are white with yellow anthers, but the most distinctive feature of this plant is its seedpods. These seedpods are penny-shaped, flattened, and broadly winged with a notch at the top, making it easily distinguishable from other British wildflowers. Habitat Information Field Penny-cress was introduced to Britain during prehistoric times. It is a summer annual that is commonly found in heavier soils, particularly as a weed in arable fields with broad-leaved crops. Additionally, it is frequently seen as a weed in disturbed roadsides, waste places, and gardens. Growing Information Field Penny-cress can be sown at any time of the year.
