Wheat is often used as Catgrass. Chewing grass can be greatly beneficial to our four legged friends; as a source of nutrients, minerals and vitamins A, B and D. This non-toxic grass promotes a healthy diet, and can also reduce the risk of hairballs by stimulating digestion.
Wheat is an annual grass. Wheat grass is the leaf of the wheat plant, as opposed to the grain. It is capable of growing in a wide range of climatic conditions. Wheat grass has greater nutritional value if harvested at a young age.

Sowing & Growing
Directions; Soak Seeds. Place rinsed seeds in a jar and fill about ¾ full with cool water. Cover with a mesh lid or cloth, secured with a rubber band, to allow air flow. A general rule is to soak at least 8 hours. Some larger seeds may require a longer soak. Soak until the seeds have doubled in size. Keep in mind that temperature also affects soak time. In warmer temperatures, the soak time is shorter. In cooler temperatures, soak time is longer, and larger seeds like chickpeas or kidney beans may require a 24-hour soak.
Sprout just until tails begin to show. Avoid over-sprouting or sprouts may not root in the soil for growing wheat grass. Add a couple of cm layer of soil to growing tray. Water gently to moisten soil. Avoid overwatering to the point puddles form. Sprinkle sprouted seeds evenly across soil, breaking up clumps as needed. Sprinkle loose soil over seeds. Place tray in an area with indirect light, at 15-25ºC. Cover with a plastic lid that has air holes punched in to make a greenhouse effect. Make sure lid is tall enough to allow grass to grow to 5cm. Water daily, avoid overwatering. Using a spray bottle is a good watering method until seeds root and grass begins to grow. After grass is 5cm, remove cover, about day 4. Continue to water daily, gently to avoid damaging young grass.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
