Butterfly Flower seed is rewarding to grow and so attractive to butterflies! Schizanthus Angel Wings is a colourful orchid-like flower mix which stands above attractive fern-like foliage. It is an annual that is heavy blooming with dainty flowers that come in a variety of multi-marked colours: The colours include pink, red, lavender, rose, and bi-colour, each with golden centres.

Butterfly Flowers are ideal for mass planting, spots of colour in the flower border or in containers. Schizanthus plants are showy and exotic looking adding lots of beauty wherever they are grown. Butterfly Flower is also commonly called Poor Man’s Orchid.

Sowing & Growing

Sow March – May in trays, pots of good seed compost in a propagator or warm place. After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination. Sow March-April or August-September for overwintering. Germination usually takes 14-30 days. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle. Harden off and plant out when all risk of frost has passed 30cm (12in) apart.
