Bring a piece of agricultural history to your garden or homestead with our premium Yellow Eckendorf Mangelwurzel seeds. Traditionally grown since the 19th century as a high-yield fodder crop for livestock, this heirloom variety has found a massive resurgence among home gardeners, smallholders, and giant vegetable enthusiasts alike.
The Yellow Eckendorf is famous for producing massive, uniform, cylindrical roots that grow predominantly above the soil line, making them incredibly easy to harvest by hand. Featuring a beautiful golden-yellow skin and crisp white flesh, these roots are packed with nutrients. While prized for feeding poultry, pigs, and cattle through the winter, young roots can also be harvested early for a sweet, earthy addition to the dinner table.
Heirloom Quality: 100% natural, non-GMO heirloom seeds with excellent germination rates.
Massive Yields: A single root can easily reach 10–20 lbs if given enough space and rich soil.
Easy Harvest: Up to two-thirds of the root grows above ground, meaning no deep digging required.
Excellent Storage: Keeps exceptionally well in a cool root cellar, providing vital winter sustenance.
Complete Packet: Beautiful pictorial packaging makes it perfect for gifting, complete with easy-to-follow, step-by-step planting instructions printed directly on the reverse.

Gardener’s Tip: Mangelwurzel seeds are actually “clusters” containing multiple tiny seeds. For maximum size, be sure to thin the seedlings to about 12 inches apart once they emerge so each giant root has plenty of room to expand!
I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
