Hyacinthoides non-scripta, the English Bluebell, holds a special place as Britain’s beloved wildflower. Recent concerns about the encroachment of the Spanish Bluebell and its potential threat to the native species have prompted conservation efforts. This seed offers an opportunity to actively contribute to preserving the English Bluebell. These plants typically begin flowering in their fourth year, eventually forming the classic woodland carpet, a sight familiar in many ancient woodlands. The abundant late Spring blossoms serve as a gratifying reward for safeguarding and rejuvenating this cherished perennial wildflower.

Sowing & Growing
Sow English Bluebell seeds indoors in either spring or autumn using a peat compost. To break dormancy, cold treatment is essential, achieved by mixing seeds with damp peat in a plastic bag stored in the refrigerator’s coldest part for 4-6 weeks. Once germinated, transfer the contents to a prepared soil site.
For outdoor sowing, choose a shady woodland area with abundant leaf mould in late summer or autumn. Lightly cover the seeds, allowing them to germinate the following spring after exposure to cold and frost. The charming flowers bloom in April and May, and English Bluebell is also known by names such as Bell Bottle, Blue Bonnets, Rink o’Bells, and Wild Hyacinth.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
