Sowing & Growing
Begin by sowing the tomato seeds individually in cell trays or 2 per plant pot, using high-quality seed compost. Lightly cover them and maintain moisture at a temperature of 18 degrees. Under optimal conditions, seedlings should emerge around 7 days after planting.
Once they are large enough, either prick them out into 9cm pots or thin out the weaker seedlings if direct sown in a pot. When the plants have developed 2 true leaves, start a weekly feeding regimen with a weak tomato feed.
As the plants reach a height of 20cm, they can be transplanted into their final positions. Greenhouse-grown plants can be planted from April onwards, providing an earlier and more abundant crop. For outdoor plants, ensure they are hardened off before planting. Planting under cloches can begin in early May, or wait until June if planting directly outside, considering the weather conditions and frost risk.
Continue the weekly feeding routine, increasing the strength of the feed as the plants grow. Proper feeding is crucial for a successful tomato crop. Balance the nutrients, including nitrogen for growth, potassium for fruit development and ripening, and phosphorus for root growth. Trace elements should also be included.
As Tomato Honey Delight is a cordon variety, it requires support as it grows. Utilize string, tied firmly to a strong support wire above and loosely around the base of the plant. The plants can then be twisted around the string as they grow. Consistency in the twisting direction is important. Alternatively, canes can be used, but precautions must be taken to secure heavily loaded plants to prevent sliding. Ensure that the plant stems are not strangled in the process.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
