Useful Information

Sowing & Growing

Begin the process indoors by surface sowing onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Gently press the seeds into the soil without covering them, as light is crucial for germination. Maintain an ideal temperature of around 20°C, and anticipate germination within 10-20 days. Once the seedlings boast 2 sets of true leaves, transplant them into 8cm pots. After acclimatization, plant them outdoors when the risk of frost has passed. Alternatively, sow seeds directly in spring or summer, with a spacing of up to 50cm.

For optimal growth, this plant prefers moist, fertile soil in either full sun or partial shade, while cautioning against winter wet conditions. Staking may be necessary for support. In terms of cultivation, trim back after flowering to stimulate additional blooms and prevent self-seeding. Established clumps can be divided in spring.
