Spudman Lady Christl Seed Potatoes 2kg

£6.99

Very limited stock

SpudMan values a potato that delivers early—and Lady Christl is one of the best. Our range of Lady Christl  packs and bundles lets you enjoy some of the first, freshest new potatoes of the season, grown right in your own garden.

Lady Christl potatoes are prized for their smooth yellow skin, creamy texture, and delicate flavour. As a first early variety, they’re perfect for lifting young as buttery, waxy new potatoes or leaving a little longer for slightly larger, versatile tubers. Easy to grow and reliable, Lady Christl is a favourite for gardeners looking for an early harvest.

Each Seed potato is graded to a size of 30–40mm, ideal for strong, healthy growth.

Lady Christl seed potatoes produce very early oval tubers, of a medium size with good size yields. Lady Christl tubers are yellow skinned with great tasting, creamy-to-waxy flesh.

These seed potatoes show good all-round disease resistance, in particular to  common scab and potato cyst nematode (PCN).

Boil them, chip them or enjoy them in a salad.

Useful Information

Planting

After purchase, carefully empty seed potato contents into shallow boxes or trays. Egg boxes or apple trays are ideal. Protect from frost and store in a cool area. Two weeks before you want to plant your potatoes, you should move them into a light area of about 10°C to produce a strong, thick sprout and make sure they are rose eye upwards. The potatoes will turn green when exposed to the light, but do not worry, as this is normal.

Your potatoes should be planted in drills that are 28′′ (70cm) apart in each row. The potatoes should be planted 12-15″ (30-37cm) apart from each other in your drills. Always make sure the eyes are facing upwards and planted at a depth of between 4-6″ (10-15cm).

Plant; March – April
Harvest Time; 13-15 Weeks
Harvest; June – July
Please note: Harvest times are subject to weather and climate. Harvest fully mature potatoes and store them in a cool, dry, and dark place to ensure their longevity, with the potential for storage lasting several months. A helpful tip during harvesting is to eliminate all foliage and small potatoes from the soil, discarding them to prevent diseases from affecting the next year’s crop.
