A lettuce based blend, with colourful Red Batavia, Green Batavia and Cerbiatta forming the base, then Endive Soldata for a continental flavour, salad rocket Dentellata and Cress Greek for spice, and the mild oriental leaf Mizuna for body. Our Salad leaf mixes are selected from varieties with comparable growth rates to provide interesting and tasty babyleaf salads which are ideal for home consumption or farm shop sales.

Sowing & Growing
They can be grown in open ground or under protection, lettuce is hardy and can be planted as soon as the soil can be worked. Can be direct seeded to a depth of 1/8 inch, and firm soil gently. Or can be started indoors 2 to 3 weeks before last frost. Also can be sown in the autumn for a late harvest. Direct sow seeds outdoors in summer or in an unheated greenhouse in autumn and winter, in sun or partial shade and in well prepared, fertile, moist soil that has been raked to a fine tilth. Sow seeds thinly, 1cm (⅖in) deep, in drills 38cm (15in) apart.
When large enough to handle, thin out seedlings to 10cm (4in) apart if growing for baby leaves or to 30cm (12in) for mature plants. Protect from slugs. Water well in dry weather.
