Sowing & Growing
You can start indoor sowing as early as late March or as late as mid-June. Sow the seeds thinly, placing 4 seeds per inch (25 mm) at a depth of 1/4 inch (6.5 mm), and gently press them into the soil surface. Germinate the seeds at 21°C for 10 days. Cover the seed flat with a transparent piece of glass to permit light, triggering seed sprouting. Monitor the germinating seedlings, as they can become excessively tall and spindly in the absence of light. Remove the glass as soon as the seeds germinate, and lower the growing temperatures to 13-16°C to encourage short and robust seedlings.
Transplant the seedlings approximately 5 or 6 weeks later into 15cm pots. Later, transplant the pots 46cm apart into a cool, sunny location. Regularly dust or spray the plants for cabbage loopers, aphids, or other cabbage insects until the plants are ready for their final relocation in the Autumn.
Alternatively sow directly thinly, as this reduces the amount of future thinning necessary and potential risk from pests. Sow seeds 1.25cm (1/2in) deep and rows should be spaced 15cm (6in) apart. Once the seeds have germinated, thin the seedlings to 7.5cm (3in) between each plant.

I have just bought all my new seeds for next year’s vegetables after having such great results this year. Budget seeds are so helpful, I’m a newbie in the veg growing world and they have been helpful in choosing the best seeds to start with etc. also much cheaper than elsewhere so if I do mess up in the future it isn’t costing me so much. I thoroughly recommend Budget Seeds for all your veg and flower seeds.
